Safari flight planning

Find the safari area first, then choose the airport that actually works.

Safari trips often use a long-haul gateway, a regional hop, then a lodge transfer or light aircraft. Compare the whole route before chasing the cheapest fare.

Route builder

Start with a gateway airport, then check the lodge transfer.

Pick an origin and safari area. The flight links use the closest practical scheduled airport, while lodge links search the destination area.

Gateway reality

Many Southern Africa safaris still route through Johannesburg.

Kruger, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia trips may need JNB, then MQP, HDS, SZK, MUB, BBK, VFA, LVI or WDH. Nairobi and Kilimanjaro do the same job for East Africa.

Real safari planning is not only the animal list; transfers, rivers, lodges and timing shape the trip.

50 safari areas

Search by country, airport, season or style.

Safari airports

Major dots, not every strip.

These are the airports travellers most often compare before the lodge or charter leg. Small camp airstrips are usually handled by the lodge or safari operator.

Big Five and specialist sightings

Use this as a fit check, not a guarantee.

Some reserves are genuinely stronger for a full classic safari mix. Others are better for wetlands, desert, primates, migrations or scenery. The right area matters more than the marketing adjective.

Lodge directory

Representative lodges by price tier.

Safari pricing changes wildly by season, inclusions and access. Treat these as planning buckets, then verify dates, flights, transfers and conservation fees directly.

Related domains

How the extra safari domains could work.

Big Five

big5safari style domains

Redirect to the Big Five section or become a focused page for Kruger private reserves, Sabi Sand, Madikwe, Serengeti, Mara and other strong classic safari areas.

Lodges

gamelodgesafrica style domains

Best as a lodge directory. Keep Flights Safari for airports and routing; send lodge-directory domains straight to the lodge grid.

Gateway

Johannesburg redirects

Southern Africa flight pages can link through Johannesburg first, then onward to Kruger, Botswana, Victoria Falls, Zambia or Namibia gateways.
